Thank You, Duchess Markle!

I keep seeing comments from numerous women saying how disappointed they were with Meghan Markle’s wedding look. Comments like:

“Her makeup was boring”
“She should have worn a fancier hairstyle”
“Her dress was too plain”
“If it was my wedding, I would have come to slay”

Where do I begin? Two things:

First of all

She made a decision about how she wanted to present herself to her husband on their special day. We are all entitled to our opinions, but that was her choice to make and it was based on the way he is used to seeing her. I identified with this because that’s what drove my wedding look inspiration. I didn’t want Marcus to be surprised when I came down the aisle. I wanted him to see me as the woman he had been dating…the woman he proposed to. So I made sure to wear my real hair, real nails, an elegant dress and a natural makeup look — done by my girl Ashley @makeupbygray. I don’t normally wear a gang of makeup, crazy weave or showy outfits, so why would I hit Marcus with that at the alter?! He actually shed a tear when he saw me coming down the aisle.

Did you see the way Prince Harry looked at Meghan? Go watch it again and read his lips. With the most sincere look in his eyes, he said to her, “You look amazing, I’m so lucky”, and no lies were told. Your husband does not want to see you walking down the aisle looking like a contestant on Ru Paul’s Drag Race. The women saying Meghan should have worn more makeup are the same ones who expect their man to cry when they are walking down the aisle. If you come looking 100% like a clown, here’s his reaction right here, sis:

Second of all

In my unpopular opinion, a wedding is not only the bride’s day. It’s about the union of two people who made the decision to become one. With that said, I was floored when someone told me, “My husband better accept me any way I see fit to come down my aisle. I’m trying to slay in my wedding pictures.” MY, MY, MY, I, I, I. After dissecting her comments for a second, I politely replied by asking if she’s single, because her attitude didn’t reflect that of someone ready for marriage. Of course, the answer was yes…and I know she’ll get nowhere with those selfish tendencies. Looks to me like Meghan took the opportunity to unselfishly consider what Harry liked about her (her natural beauty) and incorporate that into her wedding look.

Final thoughts

At the end of it all, I would just like to say thank you to Duchess Meghan for showing the world that it’s okay to keep it simple and not be a follower. She has always been a strong advocate of embracing natural beauty, which hers was enhanced and not exaggerated for their wedding day. That, to me, is refreshing. Hopefully her wedding look will inspire beauty trends where less is more because folks are looking crazy out here to just to keep up with fads.

Say it louder for the people in the back! Lol It got really frustrating watching people tear her down with how she looked at “her” wedding! Not to mention they usually have strict guidelines on what they can or cannot not wear, like their makeup, nail color, and dress styles.

I actually loved her dress, makeup and everything. And the way Harry looked at her, let everyone know how he felt! Lol In a world full of Kardashian’s, I’m glad she chose go simple and chic. Thanks for sharing, loving the blog so far! 🙂

You said it perfectly! “In a world full of Kardashian’s, I’m glad she chose simple and chic”. I totally agree with this. It’s draining to see everyone trying to look the same way. The same dramatic makeup, outfits, hair, etc. Thank you for the blog love; it definitely means a lot coming from you! 🙂

I totally agree. This was a good read. The whole ceremony was elegant. I had no problem with what she had on. Everything was top notch. Harry was mesmerized, which is all that mattered.

You look amazing by the way 😊

Thank you for reading and commenting!! AND YES!!! Harry is the only person who’s opinion mattered, and she nailed it with her look.

And thank you soooo much for the compliment, my photographers were awesome!

I’m so glad somebody else feel the same. I’m engaged and others have asked what my look will be, when I walk down the aisle. I tell them the same as if I am everyday other then a little glam. I have a nice hair cut which my fiance cuts my hair and loves me with it, so why would I go and buy a darn wig or lace front. (Which some people have asked and said it would be very cute on you) most people have not seen me with hair. But if I did my man would stop the show and go tell me to take that mess off and walk again. Lol , which i would be glad to do so. Lol. He wants to see ME, his wife, not another women, and I want to see ME also. I love her look,

Thank you so much for your perspective. I think you’re making a wise decision to keep your look true to who you are and how you normally present yourself to him. You don’t want to look at your photos years from now and say “what was I thinking?” I’m willing to bet most of the women telling you to wear long hair are single…

I completely agree with you! I loved everything about her look and the wedding. The simplicity of her makeup & dress let her natural beauty (inside & out) shine through! Every single thing was done with intention & gave the world a glimpse of the kind of impact they will have as a couple.

I’m here for every bit of it!

Thank you Kristin!!! I enjoyed how tasteful and classy she looked. There was a reason for everything they did at the wedding, and I can’t wait to see how they impact the world moving forward. Officially obsessed.

    Great read and absolute truths!!
Folks don’t know what class and timelessness is anymore.

I’ll openly admit that sometimes I struggle with my own thoughts about what I’m wearing and if it’s “too boring, plain, or enough.” But the reality is: he who loves you, will love you for YOU.

    Great read sis.

      Thank you so much!
If these young ladies at prom are any indication of where class and timelessness are headed, then we are doomed.
I always ask Marcus if I look too conservative when we go out and his reply is always the same, “no one wants to walk around with a wife who looks like a thot”.
